Initial infrastructure works have started on the 3.5 acre site to the west of Coatbridge to create Drumpellier Business Park.
The site, located on the A89 route to Glasgow, just off the M8, has detailed planning consent for some 65,000 sq ft. of office buildings, over nine pavilions.
Once finished, it will provide a range of business properties to meet the growing market for owner-occupied offices in the area – as well as leasehold properties.
Drumpellier Business Park is being developed by a partnership of Fusion Assets Ltd, North Lanarkshire Council’s regeneration company, and Stirling-based Ogilvie Group Developments.
The cost of these works is being part-funded through the Vacant and Derelict Land Fund. The Vacant and Derelict Land Fund is a Scottish Government programme aimed at tackling long-term vacant and derelict land and provides funding to local authorities with the greatest concentrations of such sites.

Councillor Tom Maginnis, Convenor of Regeneration at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “Drumpellier Business Park is an important part of the regeneration activities in North Lanarkshire. It’s fantastic to see work beginning on-site to develop what will be an innovative business park in a key location.
“We think Drumpellier is a great business location – on the A89 dual carriageway to Glasgow and just a five minute walk from Kirkwood Rail Station. It’s also just minutes from the M8, M73 and M74 motorways.”
Ogilvie Construction is carrying out the initial infrastructure, including ground works, installing drainage and utilities.
Steven Tolson, Director of Ogilvie Group Developments, said: “We’re pleased to be starting work on site. These initial works should speed up the commissioning of the new office buildings across the site, and make us more responsive to businesses interested in locating at Drumpellier.”
He added: “The overall aim is to create a business village, offering a number of small to medium-sized offices for established and growing businesses.
“The partners are keen to target owner occupiers, but there’s also an opportunity for businesses to lease premises on the site.”
Detailed planning consent has been granted for one three storey and eight two storey pavilions.
These will provide distinctively designed office accommodation to meet demand from both small and large businesses seeking flexible space to meet their ongoing requirements. There will also be over 200 parking spaces on site.
The immediate surrounding area at Drumpellier has undergone considerable development over the last few years with significant residential and commercial projects being completed. The showcase Leisure Park, which has numerous restaurants, is a short distance from the development.
