A FORMER communications officer with Scottish Homes, the Government’s national housing agency, has set up his own PR consultancy.
Adrian Mahoney (31) launched The PR Store to provide a range of services to both the public and private sectors across Central Scotland. One of his first tasks was to establish a website for the new business.
“So many public relations businesses have very little online or nothing at all,” said Mahoney. “It seemed obvious that the web would be a first point-of contact for clients and would-be clients. That’s why I set up the site. With its help, The PR Store is literally open for business seven days a week, 24 hours a day.”
He hopes to draw on his journalistic experience in his new role. For six years he was chief reporter of the Johnston Press flagship newspaper, The Falkirk Herald. He also worked on a freelance basis for The Daily Record.
Initially his new business will be run from his home in West Lothian. However, with work already coming in, he hopes to establish a permanent office in the next few months. The “Store” will specialise in media relations and training, alongside web and publication design.
Adrian already edits The Institute of Public Relations’ newsletter in Scotland and serves on the committee of the IPR’s Scotland Group.
